Validated

For quite some time I’ve been meaning to redesign this site to better do what I want, and to have a different look and feel from the standard blog. But it’s not terribly important and I’ve also been busy working on other projects. One in particular is for a friend’s event and catering business, and I’m pretty proud of it. It doesn’t have all the functionality built into it just yet, but it’s my first site that’s valid XHTML and valid CSS. For users, that doesn’t mean a whole lot other than the page looks the way its supposed to, but for developers it’s quite important. What it means is the markup, or conent, is separated from the styling and layout of the site. The result is less code, smaller file size, greater browser compatibility, and easier style and layout changes. Also, WAP devices phones and PDAs have an easier time of rendering the content compared to sites built with standard HTML or Flash.

Anyhow, I’m pleased to present >> Townsend Events << Let me know what you think…

I’m not quite sure how it happened, but over the last couple of years I’ve been playing around with HTML and subsequently picked up a few gigs. That has pretty much meant a friend saying, “I need a website”, and me responding, “hmm, I could probably do that”. Some have been pro bono, some in trade, and others I’m actually getting paid. At this point I don’t have the intention of becoming a full-time web designer, but then again, I do enjoy it far more than what I’m currently doing. And if someone were to offer me a position, it would probably be pretty hard to turn down.

after spending a lovely weekend in the hills of santa cruz celebrating a friend’s birthday, i think i need to make it a point to more often lay in the grass and stare up into the sky.

Fire, Fire, Fire!!

Last weekend I fire hooped for the first time, and my second time fire hooping was part of the closing performance at the Crucible’s Fire Arts Festival. Unfortunately, don’t have any pics of the performance, but you can check out our practice as well as a few pics from the festival…
